Assist the Bus Driver in the transporting students.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three months related experience and/or training.

Supervise, under the direction of the Bus Driver, all students while boarding, riding or departing the school bus until all pupils are safely placed in the charge of teachers or the principal, or are returned to their home location.
Assist driver in developing transportation plans and evacuation plans. Maintain ability to assist driver in bus evacuations.
Provide assistance as needed to individual students getting to and from the bus and while on the bus. May include lifting or carrying the pupils, pushing a wheelchair, lowering or closing windows, handling pupil behavior, assisting students up and down stairwells, and walking students across the streets.
Assist the Bus Driver by monitoring students and traffic to ensure all is clear before bus is moved as students depart from the bus at school or home locations.
Position self in the middle or rear of the bus (except wheelchair buses) when not providing assistance to students.
Ensure that all students have departed the bus at the end of the run. Immediately report a found child to the Dispatcher, Assistant Supervisor, or the Base Supervisor.
Operate the bus radio in the absence of the Bus Driver or in an emergency.
Assist in backing a bus by disembarking and guiding the Bus Driver from the ground.
Know assigned route and assist an assigned substitute Bus Driver through the route.
Assist the Bus Driver by writing up student referral forms.
