The Selected Teacher Advance Recruits (STAR) program is currently forming its 2018-2019 cohort of teachers. We select highly qualified applicants in critical need areas for an opportunity to secure an early guaranteed contract with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
This STAR program requires candidates to pass a vigorous application review and virtual interview.
STAR candidates are a diverse and talented mix of candidates who have shown leadership, academic achievement, and potential for success in the classroom. Some STAR candidates have prior teaching experience outside of CMS while others are recent college graduates with a record of excellence. We specifically look for candidates who are interested in teaching in high-need schools.
To qualify, candidates must be licensed (or are eligible for a license following graduation) in one of the following areas:
Exceptional Children (EC)/Special Education
Elementary Education (K-6)
Former and current CMS employees do not qualify for this program.
Candidates will be evaluated on a rolling basis. Those who are highly qualified and complete a virtual interview by February 28, 2018 will have first consideration for the program.
