Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Repair and install refrigeration units that fail on walk-in freezers, coolers, reach-in freezers and coolers, ice machines, and roll-in lunch coolers, replacing defective parts as needed.
Repairs, maintains, and may install air conditioning units ranging from window types to large tonnage centrifugal chillers.
Starts up and services air conditioning equipment of all tonnage when the weather requires their use.
Diagnoses problems of malfunctioning cooling units by testing the electrical circuits, fluid pressure, and temperature; checks for leaks with a leak detector and visually inspects the system.
Purchases necessary repair parts and supplies from local supplier, securing three bids if the cost exceeds a minimum amount.
May assemble and mount electrical wiring circuits, controls, or recording devices using blueprints, schematics, and hand tools.
