Non-Instructional - Position - Data Support Specialist
Summary: The Analyst supports the Research and Evaluation department?s purpose of performing and utilizing research to inform district decision-makers about the efficacy of educational, instructional, and operational practices. The analyst assist and/or directs the: analysis of district data, production of reports and spreadsheets for internal and external audiences, responds to data requests, interprets academic performance data, prepares, and delivers presentations on data-related topics.
Essential Duties: (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.)
Analyzes student data from a variety of systems (PowerSchool, Data warehouse, etc.)
Designs, prepares, and disseminates reports and spreadsheets containing district data to inform continuous improvement, following existing quality control processes and protocols to ensure data accuracy and consistency in reporting.
Utilizes descriptive statistics to summarize and analyze existing data.
Performs statistical analysis using SAS and Excel.
Serves on CMS committees related to data analysis and use.
Co-develops and implements strategies for making data more accessible, timely and informative to support continuous improvement at the school, learning community, and district levels
Develops and implements strategies for making data available to the general public, following established processes and protocols to ensure data accuracy and consistency in reporting.
Informs the selection and monitoring of various measures of school and district performance to foster continuous improvement.
Collaborates with other departments to provide data reports and spreadsheets that pertain to their work with students and/or schools.
Assists the Sr. Research and Evaluation Analyst in the Design and conduct of comprehensive research and evaluation studies; extraction, collection, review and analysis of data; compilation, preparation and dissemination of reports and studies.
Assists the Sr. Research and Evaluation Analyst in Coordinating district-wide surveys (e.g., parent, teacher, student, and principal).
Produces reports using the district data warehouse.
Reviews and synthesizes prior research for use in identifying promising practices.
Assists the Sr. Research and Evaluation Analyst with the review of research proposals submitted by outside entities to ensure high quality research is conducted in CMS schools.
Remains current in the field of education through review of journals and reports.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Master’s Degree in education, statistics, psychology, sociology, measurement or related field
Two years of experience in an office that deals with accountability issues in education, educational research and evaluation, data analysis, or other areas requiring analytical skills
