Job Summary: Initiates and receives telephone and radio calls of an emergency and non-emergency nature: Obtains and provides information necessary to evaluate the situation; determines appropriate response: responds expeditiously and appropriately to callers; refers questionable situations to the shift sergeant or OIC for decision; maintains accurate and legible communication notes and records.
This is a Part-Time position.
Qualifications: High School Diploma required.
General knowledge of law enforcement theories, methods and procedures helpful. Dispatching experience helpful. Must have experience working with Word and Excel. Experience with multiple phone line and/or radio transmissions needed. Must be able to handle numerous tasks simultaneously.

Major Responsibilities: Maintains appropriate confidentiality sharing situation, law enforcement, personal and educational information only on a need to know basis.
Controls and issues IPS case report number, collecting necessary associated information.
Assists with unexpected and/or emergency incidents and situations.
Uses Metropolitan Emergency Communication System via radio with IPS officers and other police, fire departments and emergency responders.
Uses IPS radio communications for contract security personnel, IPS Transportation and IPS Facilities Management Division
Maintains computer logs of incidents, activities, and information pertaining to IPS property, employees and students.
Provides assistance and information to callers on multiple telephone lines for various IPS divisions that are not on duty.
Contacts on call Crafts employees when necessary to keep IPS property safe and secure.
Sends electronic notices to key persons of critical incidents occurring in the District. Coordinates with various District employees and Divisions for emergency and maintenance Reponses.
Monitors alarm systems and cameras for relay of information to various key individuals and Divisions.
Uses available software to access data such as GPS and school data for response needs.
Records absence of employees in various positions.
