The Work Based Learning (WBL) Coordinator serves as liaison between business, post-secondary institutions, and IPS high schools. The ideal candidate will develop and drive WBL experiences for all high school students along the IPS WBL continuum. This position reports to the Career Academy Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUCTIONS:
Research, recruit and secure available specific employment opportunities with Marion County businesses.
Represent IPS at various networking events and coordinate and host job fairs, on/off site visits for employers to establish a relationship, identify and develop opportunities for student participants.
Coordinate the business functions of WBL opportunities from initial conversation through final placement.
Determine WBL guidelines and requirements by studying job description and job qualifications
Accurately negotiate and administer WBL documentation and related materials including but not limited to Training Plans, Job Descriptions, timelines, invoices and salaries.
Avoids legal challenges by understanding current legislation; enforcing regulations with managers; recommending new procedures; and conducting training.
Coach WBL participants throughout the duration of the learning opportunity.
Conduct worksite visits and monitor participants’ progress, and complete any necessary reports
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
Research job market and employment trends.
Report project needs, trends and outcomes to district and school leadership.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of service delivery area, labor market, and economic factors that affect employment and training programs and services.
Knowledge of workforce development industry and related Indiana and federal law, regulations, and policies.
High skill level and proficiency in the use of CRM, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
Ability to effectively present information to businesses top management, public groups.
High skill level in written and oral communication.
Ability to conduct research on the internet.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience prior sales/account management experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Experience managing external relationships.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on one and small group situations to customers, and other employees of IPS.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Agility to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
