Candidate must be committed to continuous improvement with the fundamental goal of advancing student achievement in an urban public school district. In addition, we are seeking candidates with the following educational and experiential requirements and knowledge, skills, and abilities:
-Bachelor's degree in arts education related field. Master's degree preferred.
-PDE-issued Principal or Supervisory certification
-Instructional certification in Music or Communications
-Formal Experiences in 2 or more areas: Music, Dance, Theater
-At a minimum, 3 years of successful teaching experience.
-Demonstrated success working with and through people in establishing goals, objectives and action plans to produce expected goals.
-Must be committed to maintaining a high standard within our arts education programs.
Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of:
-National Core Arts Standards (Dance, Music, Theatre); and PA Academic Standards for Arts and Humanities.
-Best practices in the field of Performing Arts Education
-Principles, practices, methods, and techniques used in the consistent and effective administration and advancement of specified arts projects.
-Appropriate curricula and instructional programs for all students.
-District's organization, operations, policies, and objectives.
Candidate must demonstrate abilities such as:
-Strong interpersonal skills including ability to resolve conflict and to lead and build teams on a District-wide, large scale basis.
-Work cooperatively and effectively with administrators, colleagues, teachers, parents, students, and the community.
-Effectively advocate for the District's goals in arts education.
-Interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
-Prepare narrative and statistical reports.
-Meet schedules and timelines.
-Work independently with minimal direction.
-Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, particularly in writing curriculum for Performing Arts (dance, music, theater arts).
-Use computer applications including word processing, presentation, and database software programs.
-Write grants and/or complete applications for county, state, and federal funding proposals/resources.
-Demonstrate sensitivity to ethnic, religious, cultural and sexual differences.
